Violent scenes as Sydney anti-lockdown protesters clash with police

Police have released images of four people they want to identify after officers on horseback were pelted with pot plants during Sydney’s violent lockdown protest last weekend.

Strike Force Seasoned, a specialist group of detectives, has been set up to hunt down anti-lockdown activists who breached health orders to attend the “Freedom Rally” on Saturday afternoon.

So far at least 59 people have been charged and 151 fines handed out to people who were allegedly among the crowd of thousands who marched through city streets or promoted the illegal event.

Footage from the rally captured a group of Mounted Police officers being surrounded by people near Town Hall and struck with a barrage of projectiles, including pot plants.

On Thursday pictures of four men who police say could assist them with inquiries into the incident believed to have taken place between 1pm and 2pm.

The first man depicted was wearing a hat, sunglasses and what appears to be a purple scarf, with a grey or green-coloured jacket, dark jeans and grey shoes.

A second man depicted was wearing sunglasses on top of his head, a black face mask, black jacket, grey shorts, black socks and grey shoes.

The third was wearing a dark-coloured cap, jumper, jeans and shoes as well as a black face mask and carrying a black backpack.

The fourth man was captured on camera wearing a blue tracksuit and dark-coloured cap and shoes.

Anyone with information about the identity of the four men – or has mobile phone footage of the protest activity – is urged to contact Crime Stoppers, 1800 333 000.
