A Western Australian police officer has been stood down over alleged child abuse material offences.
The male Senior Constable from the Gascoyne District in the Mid West was arrested by Australian Federal Police officers on Thursday.
The former police officer was charged with several offences relating to child abuse material and is due to appear in the Geraldton Magistrates Court on Friday.
In a statement, WA Police said the officer will remain stood down, pending the outcome of the court case.
“As the matter is subject of an Australian Federal Police investigation, WA Police Force is not able to provide any further details regarding the investigation or the specific alleged offences,” the statement read.
